Back to Books Grant Awarded to Melrose Park Library
Building Bilingual Bridges with Books Secretary of State/State Librarian Jesse White recently announced that the Melrose Park Public Library was one of the recipients of the FY13 “Back to Books” grant. The library was awarded $5000 to fund our project entitled “Building Bridges with Bilingual Books.” The goal of this project is to create a special collection that will help build literacy in two languages. This collection development grant money can be used to purchase bilingual English/Spanish books, audiobooks, and educational CDs. In the coming months, the new bilingual materials will be prominently displayed in the library. All these materials will be available for checkout in the library and through interlibrary loan.
Funding for this grant project was awarded from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Secretary of State/Illinois State Library under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA)
