Melrose Park Library Youth Services Department Receives Grant from Target for the Reading Takes You Places storytime series

The Youth Services department announced a partnership with Target® in recognition of its efforts in early literacy education. The grant will allow us to obtain materials to make our storytimes more interactive and exciting with story-telling props, craft supplies, books, and family-friendly seating.

This grant is part of ongoing efforts by Target to strengthen families and communities throughout the country. Since opening its doors, Target has given 5 percent of its income to organizations that support education, the arts, social services and volunteerism. Today that translates to more than $3 million every week.

Stay up-to-date with Storytime events and a variety of other youth services events. Call (708-649-7484), email (mpyouth@melroseparklibrary.org), or IM the Youth Services department to sign-up for programs.

A Message to Illinois Library Patrons

While you are aware of the financial problems the State of Illinois is experiencing you may not be aware of the impact it is having on your local public library service.

Illinois Library Systems are funded directly by the State. Two of the most important services that they support financially are shared online catalogs (SWAN in our case) and the delivery of materials between libraries.
