 Melrose Park Library Youth Services Department Receives Grant from Target for the Reading Takes You Places storytime series
The Youth Services department announced a partnership with Target® in recognition of its efforts in early literacy education. The grant will allow us to obtain materials to make our storytimes more interactive and exciting with story-telling props, craft supplies, books, and family-friendly seating. This grant is part of ongoing efforts by Target to strengthen families and communities throughout the country. Since opening its doors, Target has given 5 percent of its income to organizations that support education, the arts, social services and volunteerism. Today that translates to more than $3 million every week. Stay up-to-date with Storytime events and a variety of other youth services events. The Melrose Park Public Library received a 2009 LSTA Digital Imaging grant for its project Proviso Township in War and Peace: The Digitization of the Herald, 1941-1945.Over 9,000 pages of the local newspaper from the WWII era were digitized.
