Learning @ Your Library

Conquer basic Internet browsing, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and more with the help of your local library. The Melrose Park Public Library offers video guides and technology training designed to match your skills set. Contact the Adult Services Desk at (708) 649-7485 or in-person and ask to schedule a one-on-one class with our staff. Classes are available Monday thru Friday, and each session ranges from 30 to 45 minutes. Once you complete one course, you are welcome to come back for more. You don’t need to have a Melrose Park Public Library card for this service.

Salsa Contest

What: The Melrose Park Public Library will be holding our first ever Salsa Contest at the End of the Summer Reading Party. Contest winners may win a $25 gift certificate to Carnitas Don Alfredo to be used at any of their three locations.

End of Summer Reading Party

​All Summer Reading Program participants and thier families are invited to help celebrate another great summer of reading by attending our Summer Reading Party! The part features food, entertainment, games, salsa contest, and prizes! The raffle tickets for the summer reading program will be drawn. The event will be held at the Village Civic Center, 1000 North 25th Street in Melrose Park.

Citizenship & Beyond

Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White recently announced that the Melrose Park Public Library was awarded a Fiscal Year 2014 "Another Opportunity for Back 2 Books" grant for the MPPL project titled Citizenship and Beyond. Grant funds will be used to purchase adult and juvenile titles in English, Spanish, and Polish to help immigrants achieve US Citizenship and get started as new Americans. All these materials are available in the new Everyday Life Collection at the Melrose Park Public Library.


A World Gone Mad: World War I & World War II

With 2014 marking the 100th anniversary of World War I, take this opportunity to learn more about the precipitating events that started both World War I and II by attending a special presentation by Historian Jim Gibbons on Tuesday, August 19th at 2:00pm.

Download Music and Stream Movies with Freegal

What is Freegal?

Freegal is a free and legal way to download music and stream movies courtesy of your library.

Freegal offers access to about 7 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists. In total the collection is comprised of music from over 28,000 labels with music that originates in over 80 countries. There is no software to download, and there are no digital rights management (DRM) restrictions.
