Books into Movies - The Town

The TownEvery movie that we will be viewing this year is based on a book, so we will make sure we have copies of each title available for anyone who wants to read the book before watching the movie. After the movie, if there is time, we will serve light refreshments and open up the floor for audience discussion. Talk about the movie, talk about the book, compare and contrast them—anything goes.

Mail Order Homes

Thanks to a grant from the Illinois Humanities Council, the Melrose Park Public Library partnered with four area libraries/historical societies to continue research on mail-order homes. Architectural surveys have been completed for River Forest, Maywood, Bellwood, and Elmhurst. Visit the Mail-Order Homes Database documenting the mail-order homes identified.

Help us celebrate Melrose Park's 125th Anniversary and visit our site, Melrose Park Memories, where you can find eight photo galleries depicting Melrose Park's past. You can check out the devastation of the 1920 Palm Sunday tornado, view a book published in 1907 commemorating the towns 25th anniversary and see how the Winston Park subdivision was developed.
